It’s our Birthday!

It’s our second birthday party this 29th and 30th of June and you’re invited!

It’s hard for us to believe that it’s been two years since we first opened our doors to you, it seems like just 5 minutes – we’ve met, drank and worked with some great people, drank the greatest beer and had some fun along the way.

We’re not the sort of people to let the opportunity to have a party run away from us, so from the morning of Saturday June 29th until 10:30 on Sunday 30th we’ll be having a huge birthday bash in Clerkenwell to celebrate great beer and great people. We’ve got cake, beer and a whole host of other things up our sleeve, what more could you possibly want?

We’ll announce the beer selection nearer the time but for now, party hats at the ready!

Darkstar Meet the Brewer June 3rd

The first Monday in each month sees a meet the brewer night in our beautiful new pub in Islington, on Monday June 3rd we’re bringing Sussex’s finest Dark Star brewery to you in all their hops & glory, with 10 of the greatest beers ever made in Britain available on the bar at the same time for you to try, taste and drink!

Think you’ve tasted Dark Star before, think again. We’re giving you the opportunity to meet the new team behind so many of Britains’s greatest beers.

We’ll be opening the doors in Islington at 4pm and the new brew team will be there from the off to talk to you about their beers, their passion and what they like to drink!

The Big Inflatable Cowboy Hat – IIPA Launch

It was only last month that Nacho from the American brewing giants Pizza Port swapped the scorching sun and see and launching a taste bud tantalising tap takeover in Clerkenwell. We promised you something special that day, a collaboration beer between Nacho and the Siren Brewing company.

Well, today, we’re announcing that beer; The Big Inflatable Cowboy Hat on June 8th in Islington, it’s a hoppy punchy yeehah of a double IPA weighing in at a hefty 10.5% backed full of American and European hops. Now, don’t go getting hoarse or running to the post about this but we’re launching this along side four other very special one off Siren beers.

Liquor and Beer Series: Bourbon and Sour Ale

It’s nearly time for our fourth huge liquor and beer pairing and this time it’s Bourbon and Sour Beer being pitted against each other to find the perfect match, you’d probably never be daring enough to match these two together, but we are. We’re celebrating the oaky notes of bourbon and the sourness of lambics and gueuze by pairing them together in what can only be called the craziest pairing ever.

You’ll be guided by Tom Cadden through four bourbons and four sour ales; each round explaining the complex and unusual flavours of lambics and the complex and deep oaky notes of bourbon.

The tasting kicks off at 1930 on Monday 3rd June, in the upstairs lounge in Brixton and lasts for about 2 hours, and tickets are available via the EventBrite form below!

Beer Geek Quiz: May 13th

It’s time for round two of the quiz with a twist. It’s the geekiest beeriest quiz in town – and the jackpot prize is £200 worth of bottled beer of your choosing. Test your knowledge of all things geeky, beery, brewing and general knowledge with us in Islington. The second Beer Geek quiz is May 13th – be sure to be there! The rules are pretty simple; turn up before 7pm and choose your teams (no more than 6 people per team), £2 entry fee per person, the quiz masters decisions are final there is a bonus round of a blind tasting! The winning team gets to choose upto £200 of bottled beer and drink it at home at their pleasure! The second prize is a round of drinks! You think you know your beer? Prove it!!

Liquor and Beer: Gin and Saison

It’s time for the third liquor and beer pairing and this time it’s Gin and Saison. We’ve got four the finest gins around and four splendid Saison style beer to pair together. While it might sound like an unusual mix they actually go together like peas in a pod as the spicy and aromatics aromas contrast strongly. They do say opposites attract.

We’ll be using gin from the Sipsmith Distillery in Hammersmith and other gin producers from around the UK.

Tickets are available through Eventbrite below or they can be bought across the bar in Brixton. The pairing starts at 19:30 and should run for about 1:30. See you there!

UPDATED: Un-Human Cannonball Launch

Magic Rock are unleashing a behemoth of an IPA on Thursday 16th of May in the Craft Beer Co Islington. This monster triple IPA is to be released once a year and the only place you’ll be able to drink this cheeky thing is in Islington.

If you’re a hophead then this beer is for you packed full of Centennial, Citra & Columbus hops in the hop back and then dry hopped to the circus and back with 4 monstrous additions of Amarillo, Centennial, Simcoe, Citra and then added Chinook in cold conditioning.

We’ll have a few kegs on throughout the day and the special screen printed bottles will be available to take away on the night. Aswell as that Magic Rock will be giving away some limited edition Un-Human Cannonball tshirts and celebrating the launch with a mini magic takeover!

Tasting notes from the bottle:

“Once a year we receive the latest crop of hops from the US, intensely aromatic and bursting with potential they’re begging to be put to work. With three times the quantity of hops of our explosive IPA ‘Cannonball’ and even more than our flagship Double IPA ‘Human Cannonball’ we’ve created a fitting tribute to the new hop release with this our annual homage to the hop. ‘Un-Human Cannonball ‘takes IPA to another dimension balancing massive citric aroma, deep tropical fruit flavor and gravity defying drinkability to deliver a hop experience that is out of this world.‘

Bottle Mondays

We’re bringing something new to The Craft Beer Co Brighton. Bottle Mondays. Starting this Monday the 15th of April and then continuing each Monday thereafter we’re going to be opening a bottle of something extremely special and giving you the chance to taste it! This Monday we’re starting with Alesmith ESB a bright copper coloured extra strong bitter by Alesmith one of San Diego’s finest craft breweries. So join us for bottle Monday, Monday will never be boring again.

At 7pm on April 10th in Brixton we’re launching a new series of liquor and beer pairings, hosted fortnightly by the masterful Tom Cadden. In our first 2 hour pairing we’ll be matching world class rums from some of the smallest rum distilliries around the world with the best stouts we can find! We’ve thought long and hard about these pairings and we’ve came up with some great matches. Keep your eyes peeled for tickets for the next 5 events including IPA and Tequila and Bourbon and Lambic. As a little gift to you we’re launching a pretty special offer – if you attend 4 out of the 5 first pairings we’ll give you a ticket to the final pairing on us!
