The family got a bit bigger last week as we stepped in and saved an Iconic Brighton pub from closure and created CASK Pub and Kitchen Brighton.

It is certainly funny times as we have been spending more time than normal in Brighton for the last several months as we have been finalising a deal on the 2nd Craft Beer Co site. Loving Brighton, its people and the its free spirit we decided where better to open our next site.

On Monday 1st March we got a call telling us that Brightons Iconic ‘Spotted Dog’ had been been handed back to the landlord. We were very sad indeed to hear about this turn of events, because we had always heard wonderful things about Dominic McCartan, the well known and respected man behind this and a few other Brighton pubs. We also knew the manager Emma Cole and thought she was a great young woman who we would love to work with – so we mulled over what to do.

Things all moved very quickly indeed and after a refurbishment which would have made changing rooms proud we relaunched CASK Pub and Kitchen Brighton on Friday 23rd March.

The new look pub maintains a wonderful traditional feel to it but also seems much bigger now although we have kept exactly the same number of seating spaces in the pub.

The pub has eight hand pumps serving the best real ale from across the UK and eighteen keg taps serving the incredible beers we are well known for plus a bigger share of UK keg beers. If that was not enough we also have around one hundred bottled beers and a fantastic food menu.

We are really excited about this new venture and really encouraged by the amazing response we are receiving so far.

Your probably asking yourself, what about The Craft Beer Co Brighton, well thats still on track and coming soon. Brighton might just become the new epicentre of the UK craft beer revolution!

One last thing, this doesn’t mean we have forgotten about London or the rest of the UK, keep your ear to the ground, we will have some more extremely exciting news to announce very very soon….

Martin & Peter

Its unbelievable to think our first venue has been open for more than six months. So many people have passed through our doors and we have been so busy so quickly we have sometimes been overwhelmed.

Praise and accolades have poured in from every quarter including from respected publications in the USA and we have nearly 3000 followers on Twitter.

We created The Craft Beer Co to be the ultimate venue in the UK for drinking hand crafted small batch artisan beers and we would like to think we have done a pretty good job. Looking around the changing landscape of the UK pub scene we feel really proud for playing a part in making people try harder and think outside the traditional box. We love the fact that so many good bars have opened recently as it makes us try even harder to stay at the pinnacle of the UK craft beer scene.

2012 is going to be a very exciting year and you will see further venues opening both in London and outside at a place very close to our heart, more details will follow soon about this.

Our mission is very clear and will never change, no matter what. We will scour the earth for the finest hand crafted small batch artisan beers, we will always have the best of British in cask and we will bring this together with the finest beers in keg and bottle from around the world. No other bar in the UK (except out sister pub CASK) today would have on its bar at the same time beers from Darkstar, Thornbridge, Magic Rock, Brodies, Mikkeller, Evil Twin, Haand, De Molen, Cantillon, Southern Tier, Cigar City, Clown Shoes and Dark Horse. We take great pride in having a totally unique beer range and we will make sure during 2012 and beyond that we keep getting better!

The stakes are constantly being raised within London’s burgeoning craft beer scene, but this bar (The Craft Beer Co opened in June 2011) currently holds the winning hand. With 37 beers on tap, it’s enough to silence the competition, but these are really just a prelude to the main exhibit: 150 bottled varieties from locations including South Africa, Japan and Scandinavia. Connoisseurs will swoon at offerings from cult brewers such as Denmark’s Mikkeller, while even craft beer novices should be enticed by names like Blueberry Stout, Dim Sum Beer and Gypsy Juice on the menu.
